What is Legislative Committee?

The Marquette ASDA Legislative Committee has two main goals: Advocacy and Education. First, our committee advocates and encourages others to advocate for the rights of dental students and the dental profession. The practice of dentistry and the welfare of our patients can be greatly affected by decisions made by our state and local governments. Therefore, we advocate because we want to ensure that the voices of dental students and dentists are heard. Second, we strive to find interesting and innovative ways to help our peers stay informed on legislative matters that are relevant to dentistry such as midlevel providers, access to care, student debt reform, licensure reform, and much more. We advocate and educate through multiple events throughout the year including the ADPAC & WIDPAC fundraisers, our “Dinner Plate and Advocate” event during Fever Week, advocacy-related lunch and learns, Lobby Day, WDA Legislative day, just to name a few.
